Remember the ministry to St. John Lutheran School in your will.
Establish an endowment fund that would let you donate land or property to the school after your death. It gives you a tax break now, allows you to continue to use your property during your lifetime, and help the school upon your death.
Back in Dec 18th, 2015 congress passed legislation allowing you to make a tax-free charitable gift to a charitable foundation directly from your IRA. The law allows individuals 70 ½ or older an opportunity to make tax-free gifts of up to $100,000 directly from their IRAs to a charity of their choice. If you have already made a distribution to St John School this year, you may also apply the provision retroactively.
In order for your IRA gift to count as a tax-free gift before the end of the calendar year, please mail an envelope bearing your check made out to St John School that is postmarked by December 31. Please contact your IRA custodian to request a check, payable to St John School if you should choose to donate.
Take out a life insurance policy with St. John Lutheran School as the beneficiary. Your premium could be considered as a contribution now. These policies may eventually become self-sustaining with no further premiums needed to keep it in force.
Consider purchasing bonds, stocks, or mutural funds for the school.
Financial gifts from our area churches and school supporters are a big portion of our annual budget. Consider a year end or any time tax deductible gift that can go to the list of causes on our Annual Donation Form.
